New Addition

Damon has finally fulfilled his dream of owning a motorcycle. Can't say that I'm thrilled about it but I'm glad that he's really happy with his new toy.

Crash....Into Me

I think that 2008 will be remembered as "the year of the insurance claim." Fortunately, Damon only got a few burns to his arms from the airbag. Unfortunately, the people that caused the accident didn't have insurance. So we're a one car family again for a while anyway.

Ludy Melvin Massie

My Grandpa passed away this afternoon. It's a lot of loss for one month. I'm not really sure sure what to say. Just when I think I can't cry any more I discover that I can. Last week when I visited him at the nursing home he kissed my hand and hugged me. He was always quietly smiling and so comforting to those around him. Love you Grandpa.

The Job

Today was the first day of the rest of my life... It was great! I met a lot of people and remembering all the names is going to be a challenge. It was relaxing and actually fun. It's nice to be smiling while you work! The highlights included: going to the Diabetes Center for an inservice on carb counting (lunch was provided!!! I had 4 servings of carbs) and spending the last part of my day playing on treadmills and elipticals. Yes they pay me to do this! I picked Sid up from the sitters and was home before 4pm. I'm a little nervous about having to work 5 days in a row but they aren't "hard" days so I'm hoping it's going to be okay. So far I'm loving it!

Meda Rose Massie

My grandma passed away today at 8:00pm. She had a heart attack yesterday and was on life support. After discussing what was best for her with her Doctor we decided to take her off of the ventilator and she passed away in the presence of her family and heavenly Father. She was a beautiful lady and will be greatly missed. Her funeral will be this Friday, May 23rd in Cedar Park, TX.

Play Date

Our sweet friends Sara and Logan came over this morning to visit. Here are Sid and Logan sharing the Elmo chair and watching Dora.
I can't believe Logan is only 1! Such a big guy!
Sid cooked some "chocolate" for us. Yummy mud pies fresh from the yard. Mmmmm!
We were all set for the perfect pic and then the sprinklers came on! Logan took it in stride though. Totally chill little guy.

And The Winner is........

I got the job in Cardiac Rehab!!!! I found out today and I'm super excited to be joining the department. I almost feel like it's too good to be true. I keep having to tell myself, "You deserve good things to happen to you! You are worth this!" My stress level is going to be cut in half and I'll now be home by 4:30 at the latest- instead of 9pm. It occured to me after I accepted the job that I'm going to have to start planning meals. I only cook at most 2 times a week so this is going to be the most drastic change for us. And as a huge bonus I'll get to spend 5 more hours a week with Sidney! Yes I actually counted how many hours with nap times factored in... So now I just have to work out when I can leave 4Central with my manager and then it's off to nursing paradise! Woohooooo!

Get the Lead Out

I've decided that it's time to get in shape. Damon says, "Finally!" I have maintained my pre-baby weight for the past year but that's about 20lbs more than what I should be. I've started walking the track at UTPB which is about 2.6 miles and trying to make better food choices. My clothes are already starting to get a little baggy. It's a great feeling! I have a goal to be able to run a 10K next March. Considering I haven't run a mile since I was in college, getting ready to run a 6 mile stretch will definitely be a challenge. Of course this will necessitate getting a new "work-out" wardrobe and finding a good sports bra is a daunting task. Wrestling with spandex is almost a work-out in itself!

Shake Things Up

Big changes are in the works for me over the next few weeks. First - next Wednesday I will wrap up my pre-reqs for the Texas Tech BSN program. I should be a Red Raider this fall! Guns Up!!! Second - I applied for a new job at MCH. It's with the Cardiac Rehab Center so I would be back to patient centered nursing care with more family friendly hours and a lot less stress. There will be a pay cut but the positives vastly out weigh any $ amount. I'll get to be home for dinner every night and I'll only have to work 1 weekend a month. Hopefully the interview process will begin this week. It's fun to think about possibilities but much more exciting to plan for a definite future.

And I Quote...

Damon on our 9th Anniversary - "I think this is going to work out. I think we're going to make it!"

Sidney when asked where she lives - "With Papas! In Kermit!"

Sidney after getting in trouble - "I'm gonna be sad!"

Blue-bonnet Browsing

Blue-bonnets were my mom's favorite flower and I'm so glad we were able to get some pictures of them when we were in Austin. Sidney wasn't especially cooperative with our photo shoot but we had a lot of fun running through the flowers.

Rachel's Austin Shower

Last weekend we went to Austin for Rachel's wedding shower. It was so good to see all our family and friends. Aunt Pam hosted the shower at their beautiful new home. Can't believe Rachel will be a "Mrs." in a month!

Egg-cellent!

Sid had so much fun finding Easter eggs this year. She didn't want to carry her basket so she would run and find the eggs then carry them back.

Cascarones! Sid wasn't very happy with Damon trying to break them on her head so we threw them at the garage wall. Fun but messy!
"Oh? I can eat them too?"
