One of my instructors had us read the book Who Moved My Cheese? Damon's aunt Madelin had given it to us when Damon was laid off in 2001 and it was good to read it again. My favorite part of the book is when it asks "What would you do if you weren't afraid?" Personally I'm very reigned in by my fears, especially fear of the unknown and fear of failure. Being back in school has brought both of those fears front and center. I feel like I've been smacked on the forehead but I'm starting to realize that 1.) I like being a nurse and 2.) I like learning more about what I do. Surprise, surprise!

Reality Check
For some reason I thought that working fulltime, having a 2 year old, and going back to school wouldn't interfere with life as usual. WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!!!
My classes started last Tuesday and the past 5 days have kicked my butt. The program had me hitting the ground running and since I haven't had to strain my brain for the past 10 years it's been a far from graceful beginning. One of my professors seems like she genuinely wants us to be better nurses through this program. Another of my professors leaves me with the impression that she doesn't like students. Eeeep!

I'm trying to stay focused on the prize and my successes. This weeks victories include: reading over 150 pages of nursing literature and turning in my assignments on time. Damon has gone above and beyond! He's been so helpful, especially when I've wanted to take a hammer to my computer and the Texas Tech IT staff. Thanks Babe!

Midnight in Odessa
I recently got hooked on Stephanie Meyers Twilight book series. It's a teenage vampire love story written by a Mormon house wife. Sounds silly I know but it's been a fun escape from reality. My awesome friend Sara went with me to the midnight book release party at Hastings. The party was a bit on the lame side (no food!) but we did get to see a few interesting goth people.

Hanging out with the Dennis Gang
Last weekend Sidney and I got to spend the day in Kermit with Zane and Kim's family. It was so great to get to see them! The boys have gotten so big and Chad will be starting ACU in just a few days!
